The Green Bazaar in Almaty is the oldest market in the city. Here you can buy a lot of interesting things, starting from national goodies and ending with jewelry ...
As in any oriental bazaar, you have to bargain here. Sellers, for the most part, are very fussy and friendly. I especially liked the rows with all sorts of nuts and dried fruits, they give you a taste of everything. While two rows have passed, we have had enough :)
If you like horse meat and meat delicacies, then this market has the largest selection. We bought smoked kazy (horse meat sausage), packed it in a vacuum bag and also gave us a piece of dried meat as a gift.
I definitely recommend visiting all the guests of the city! But keep in mind that the market is large, two-tiered, and it will hardly be possible to get around it in an hour. Personally, I spent half a day there and am very happy. It's like a paradise for a shopaholic 🤩👍
By the way, there are various cafes on the territory where you can taste national cuisine. Nowhere is meat cooked so divinely as in Kazakhstan 🥰

A gorgeous place! A must-see for tourists, especially the central covered pavilion. A fascinating variety, the ability to put on the counter, you can always try and of course choose and buy. But if this is not an excursion, then you need to manage to find the entrance to the former technical premises under the central covered pavilion and then you can also buy much cheaper. There is everything from food, vegetables and fruits, things and household goods, maybe only large-sized for construction can not be found, but even then there are doubts, maybe I have not yet found the right entrance to the right room.

A wonderful tourist destination, a selection of goods for every taste, from exotic to purely national. Clean, tidy, we had coffee on the 2nd floor gallery, I did not expect that there could be such a fine coffee on the market! I recommend you to visit! The coolest bazaar in Almaty. I really like to walk around it. You can always buy something interesting, starting with groceries and ending with souvenirs. The prices are excellent. Vegetables are always fresh. The meat is super. You can go through the duffel bag. Everything is convenient "at hand" and you don't have to go far. Recommend.

Well, a bazaar is like a bazaar, only big. visited in January 2025. On sale, as in any bazaar, the choice is standard. Of the special ones, there is a boutique/store of Chinese products, very entertaining. We bought nuts at the bazaar, honey, and Aport apples (a unique apple variety known in Almaty). I recommend the Green Bazaar to visit, but once is enough if you are a tourist.

Good day! Somehow I treat the green bazaar neutrally, before, in childhood, I often went there with my parents.. The range of goods and products is very extensive, of course, wide.. You can choose everything you need and repair the building.. But, the situation there still feels like you're in the 90s.. Because when buying any clothes, at the time of fitting the same jeans, for example, you get up on cardboard as before and you are covered with some kind of screen or fabric and that's it))) It's still very dirty and it stinks.. I don't like this.. And so, in general, in the same Alma store, you can choose a lot of useful things..

I visit the Green Bazaar almost daily, as I work within a 5-minute walk. The best bazaar in the city in terms of the range of products / goods and cost, but ... you need to know some features and be friends with the sellers ... dried fruits, groceries, cheese / sausage, milk- we buy with a colleague mostly from the same sellers. It is disappointing that the site in front of the entrance to the ZB, on the side of Zhibek Zholy Street, despite the protracted repairs, has remained imperfect.
